The Camel Shrimp, also known as the Humpback and Candy Shrimp, is a beautiful red and white shrimp of the Rhyncocinetidae family. Its markings are brighter than the Peppermint shrimp which it is often mistaken for. The Camel, like other shrimp, needs rock or places to hide when molting. It is peaceful towards its own kind and tolerates other shrimp species. Use caution with colonial and disc anemones and soft or leather corals. Bubble corals and stinging anemones are safe, but the Camel may eat the others. Drip acclimation is recommended for all inverts to avoid rapid changes in water chemistry. Copper based medications can be fatal for inverts.
