The Brown Banded Cat Shark is from the Indo-Pacific region and is also referred to as the Bamboo or Black Banded Shark. This egg will hatch in 1 to 5 weeks depending upon water conditions and stage of maturity when added to aquarium. This is a real shark and should only be kept by very experienced hobbyists. The banded shark is a beautiful cream colored animal with dark brown markings and whiskers lending to its name as a Cat Shark. A soft sand substrate is required for housing this fish. Course substrate will scratch and damage the shark’s belly. They can be tricky to feed in the beginning; live shrimp or cleaned squid are recommended as introductory foods, then later, marine flesh, shrimp and mussels will work. Best foods are squid, whole cockles, fresh shrimp and frozen mussels.
