The Checkered Butterfly from the Indo-Pacific is also known as the Pearl Scale or Orange Tail. Its white pearly scales accented with orange and black are quite beautiful. This is a really nice fish to own. If you’re planning on more than one, they should be added at the same time. This carnivorous fish can eat most meaty foods. Pearl scales feed on algae and benthic invertebrates. This fish nips at coral polyps and feather dusters, so it is not safe for reef environments.
