Sand Polyps are semi-aggressive members of the Zoanthus family. They can vary in color and are highly recommended for novice coral keepers. Colors vary from colony to colony but these polyps are shades of red or green. Be sure to space them away from other corals. With good water conditions, these polyps will multiply, spread, and sometimes overcrowd the corals beside it. In this case, simply divide the colony and start a new one. They're carnivores that like to eat Mysis shrimp and microplankton. When handling this coral, it is best to wear gloves to protect your skin form the toxin that they produce. Trace elements like Iodine make excellent supplements. Offer a feeding of prepared coral food such as phytoplankton to keep these corals well fed.
