The Fire Shrimp is one of the brightest colored shrimp available to saltwater hobbyists. This shrimp is from the Indo Pacific and is known as a cleaner shrimp, removing micro-algae and phytoplankton from fish that make pit-stops at its “station.” It is peaceful but should not be kept with other Fire Shrimp. It scavenges meaty pieces along the substrate, but hides most of the time to avoid bright lights. This shrimp is both gorgeous and beneficial. Drip acclimation is recommended for all inverts to avoid rapid changes in water chemistry. Copper based medications can be fatal for inverts.
