The Frilly Mushroom is very easy to keep, requiring only strong light. Its symbiotic relationship with the photosynthetic Zooxanthellae algae living in its body provides the nutrients, and some species secrete and cover themselves with a coating of mucus that traps bacteria and plankton as food. Nematocysts near its opening contain a toxin which can be ‘spit’ out at prey in dart form, used in defense, or released in the general area to harm an encroaching coral. Frilly Mushrooms can be solitary or colonial. CARE LEVEL: Easy TEMPERAMENT: Peaceful TEMPERATURE:74 to 82 pH:8.1 to 8.4 PLACEMENT: Middle LIGHTING: Medium WATER FLOW: Medium
