Marineland Penguin Power Filters with Bio-Wheel feature complete, 3-stage filtration to keep their aquarium clear, clean, and healthy. Some of the new improvements to the Penguin filters include: A larger BIO-wheel that means more area for nitrifying bacteria to grow, keeping your aquarium totally free of harmful ammonia and nitrites. Increased flow rates maintain optimum water circulation and ensure proper BIO-wheel rotation. Adjustable water intake strainer allows you to take water from the bottom or mid-tank for the ultimate in complete circulation. The all-new cover design and sealed motor dramatically reduces water noise and vibrations while still maintaining optimum oxygenation. All Penguin Filter models still use the handy Rite-Size filtration media cartridges so changing the filter is a snap. Good for freshwater or marine aquariums.

Size: Filter is 5" x 5" x 7.5" high (Great for tanks up to 20 gallons).

Excellent filter!!!!!!!!!, 8/9/2010

I currently use the 150gph filter for my 20gal freshwater aquarium and use the 350gph for my 55gal. The filter only needs to cycle the the full amount of water in the tank about 5X for freshwater. But I always upgrade to a slightly bigger filter to be safe. This is a perfect filter that I would recommend to anyone who wants crystal clear water with an easy-to-use filter!

Good filter for smaller tanks, 12/26/2008

I keep puffer fish and they need very clean water. I use the penguin filters on all my tanks. They are a good value and work well. Only things that are a drawback are when the water level in the tank drops, they can be noisy and you shouldnt follow the recommended sizes on the box. I have the volume of my tanks run through the filter at least 10x per hour. This means the penguin 350 by itself will not handle my 55gal. tank have a second filter on it. I also do not use the pre-filled cartridges. You can get re-fillable cartridges for this model. My puffers love swimming against the current the filter creates in the tank. Good filters for tanks under 55 gal and I you dont want to buy a canister filter.

i have this filter, i like it alot but i found the filters need to be changed very often and create bad odors. it is also a very noisey filter but overall it workd pretty good.
