The Scarlet Hermit comes from the Caribbean in and can be easily identified by its red legs and yellow face. It eats all kinds of detritus, including filamentous algae and cyanobacteria, and meaty waste. Its peaceful temperament makes it one of the best of the cleaner crabs to have in your saltwater tank. Dried seaweed is an excellent supplement should the tank be short of algae. Drip acclimation is recommended for all inverts to avoid rapid changes in water chemistry. Copper based medications can be fatal for inverts.
