The Spotted Sweetlips is from the Indo-Pacific region and also goes by the names of the Harlequin or Clown Sweetlips because of the clown-like spots and swimming motion. While young, it will be a brownish color with white spots and then change to white with dark spots as an adult. This fast grower will reach an impressive size rather quickly. It is generally peaceful but is rated more aggressive because it will devour fire worms, serpent stars, polychaete worms, and small snails in a reef tank. Upon first introducing the Sweetlips to its tank, live marine feeder shrimp are recommended food items. A regular diet of marine preparations for carnivores will work after introduction.
