The Square Back Anthias is from the Indo-Pacific region. It is also called the Square Spot, Square Block, or Purple Blotch Basslet. The males are cool looking pink fish with a light colored square marked out on their sides. They are most comfortable in a tank which resembles their natural environment; lots of rocks and cliff overhangs. If keeping in groups, a minimum of 125 gallon tank is required. These fish are active swimmers and need the space. This species is Hermaphroditic, and if the dominant male is injured or dies, the largest female will morph into a male.
